L’Manburg is neutral territory for the two, so this is where the Imperial Families meet to discuss politics and shit (eww).
And that’s how it starts.

Y sería mucho más sencillo si Sapnap no estuviera trabajando solo, haciendo un trabajo previsto para dos.

I feel… trapped, like a bird in a golden cage, and I fear I’ll never learn to fly.”
“And what would that be like?” Sapnap interrupts, only for a second. “Flying. Breaking out of your cage.”
Dream sighs, both tired and awestruck at the mere concept of what Sapnap insinuates. “Something… Something beyond this. Beyond kingly duties and expectations, beyond having to be proper every moment of the day, acting like one is untouchable, perfect. More than being frowned at if you don’t meet the requirements. There’s got to be more, Sapnap, than just the same walls and the same balls and the same scornful, stuffy people, more than a lethargic, lackluster routine. There’s got to be more.”

Summary
Dream is a prisoner, trapped in a little cell for ages with no hope of being released. That is until George becomes king. One of the very first things he does is to give all the prisoners a fair trial, something his cruel father never did when he was king.
So Dream gets to step outside for the first time in so long, tells his side of the story, and tries to prove his innocence.
But he isn't innocent, which is why George puts him to work as a castle servant, five years of working and then he can be free. It's not too bad though, much better than his cell, and he even meets friends like George's guard Sapnap, Karl the tailor, and Corpse the stablehand.
As time goes on, Dream and George even start to become friends. And, eventually, maybe a bit more than that.
Or a story about second chances, in which Dream is freed from his criminal past and able to make friends because of King George's kindness. And if that kindness leads to him falling in love with said king, can anyone really blame him?
