He holds his hand more firmly to stop Veronika from slinking away again. Hiro dips the cotton ball into the odd-smelling container once more, then faces Veronika again.
“What even happened?” He asks, applying a thin layer of the ointment onto her face. It smells artificial, and Veronika’s nose crinkles in disdain.
“Some guy shot a fully powered charger shot point blank at my face.” She replies, muttering the entire time. The ointment feels tingly on her skin. Hiro’s eyes widen.
“What a dick,” He mutters as he turns away again. Veronika lets out an amused exhale as a smile creeps onto her face.
