Summary
Jade had always found winters on land fascinating.
Yet, strangely enough, Jade's attention wasn't on the frost-laden trees or the glittering winter festival stalls. It wasn't on the snow-dusted pathways of Night Raven College that glittered under the strings of enchanted fairy lights. It was on Trey.
Trey Clover, the 'normal' vice-housewarden of Heartslabyul. Trey, who prided himself on composure, who wielded quiet competence and normalcy like a shield, who currently looked like a half-frozen rabbit. His forest-green hair was dusted with snow, amber eyes narrowed behind fogged glasses as he buried himself into his scarf, his gloved hands jammed into pockets that clearly offered no relief. Jade noted each tremor, each shaky breath, with the precision of a predator tracking wounded prey. Except this prey was not meant to be hunted.
Jade watched from the corner of his eye, equal parts amused and... something else. Something he couldn't quite name.
Ridiculous, his mind supplied, not even specifying which one of them he meant.
