Lancelot’s eyes fluttered open. In that instant, Merlin knew the true Lancelot was back, and his chest ached. A laugh trembled past Merlin’s lips, tears already racing to fall. Morgana was cruel to ensure Merlin would grieve for Lancelot twice, yet underneath all the rage Merlin felt towards her, it hurt as much as it warmed him to see Lancelot once more. To see that smile grace the knight’s face.
To have a body to burn, even if there would be no other witnesses.
