Summary
After the Neo-World program ended, Hajime was overworked by the Future Foundation in hospitals, previous battlegrounds and spy operations to clean up the mess of despair that imprinted Japan. After work, his only place of true comfort was the cramped hospital room of his lover Nagito Komaeda. But, where Hajime's hope resided in that small bubble of tranquil sanctuary, Nagito's despair began to fester endlessly until it overcame him and drove him to suicide.
Unable to accept a future where he worked without his lover to look forward to, Hajime's emotions, too, overcame him until he... travelled back in time? Back to a world before Junko Enoshima, before all the tragedies. A simple, quaint high school life at Hope's Peak Academy in the Reserve Course. Was this a gift from god for Hajime to rework the past and ensure that his lover never ended up in that sickening hospital bed, or a curse to remind him of how his utterly talentless self could never stand on par with Nagito Komaeda of the Main Course and affect any part of his future at all?
