Summary
Set in my ‘Gusu City AU’, but a new arc I’m calling ‘Gossamer Years’. This way I feel it links up to the setting but allows different themes, in this case a little magic mixed into the mostly realistic if slightly dystopian backdrop of Gusu City, without starting a whole new series.
Here, Wangji’s well into his mourning; years have passed since he’s last seen, held, kissed Wei Ying. (The tragedy that has robbed Wei Ying of his future and Wangji of his love has happened and remains, as yet, unresolved. It is not the main theme of this story though.) Wangji fills the role of father, mother, and family to Yuan when his remaining relatives are unable to do so. He buries his grief so he can function, but buried isn’t gone, and sometimes longing so strong means that reality blurs…
The endnote is a little spoiler for those of us who like to read romantic drama.

Half a year after Aziraphale left, Crowley is trying his best to come to terms with the fact that the world is going to end in just seven weeks and that he will likely have to face that end alone. Having done all he can, all that's left for him to do is to distract himself while he waits. Teaching a too-nice-for-their-own-good human not to take in random strangers might be just the ticket.
Meanwhile, up in Heaven, Aziraphale is receiving some troubling news about the Second Coming. Troubling - but possibly the best chance he is ever going to get to set things to rights. Now, if only he could get Crowley aboard, but that seems to be much more difficult than he would like.
The solution to all their problems is much closer than they think. If only they'd remember the elephant...OR: Just another post-season 2 fic. But with more glitter.

And even still - there is not enough language yet in existence to articulate the grief that moves behind Crowley’s eyes.
It is the hollow place between the molecules of stars. It is a vast sky lit with light already dead. It is a synonym to syzygy, a sundering of oneself, a reckless, hopeful, wild grief at the end of a thing that has been unnamed.
It is molten wax. It is a parent that should have said more.Or: Crowley and Aziraphale find themselves on the Isle of Crete, Aziraphale unable to perform miracles and Crowley unable to escape his own blessed narrative.

A sequence of soft, happy scenes of WangXian together, on the occasion of a WangXian visit to Cloud Recesses. Not much happens, just Wangji spoiling his love, and Wei Ying feeling loved. Fade-to-black at the end. The mystery of the plum blossoms remains open to guessing.
Pure indulgence. Meandering, detours, lots of purple prose, descriptive, because I had an image in my mind and it wanted out. A bit more worldbuilding, elaborating previous motifs in my stories. Lots and lots of footnotes.
