Summary
She was in the wrong place at the wrong time. That’s what she told herself when they dragged her off the streets and into his world. Bound, bruised, and silenced, she quickly learned that defiance meant pain and obedience meant survival. But even as she sat in the belly of the beast, she refused to break.
Joel didn’t know what to do with her. She was an inconvenience, a liability—but there was something about her that kept him from pulling the trigger. He should’ve let her go. Should’ve ended it before it got this far. But now, with every raid, every wound she tended, and every look she gave him that wasn’t filled with fear, something inside him cracked.
When he finally tells her she’s free to leave, she does. But the outside world isn’t the same anymore—it feels empty. No matter how hard she tries, she can’t forget him.
