The pavement was covered in scratches.
Little thin lines and indents, cracks and markings and worn-down spots of stone from people walking over them. Vespera tapped her boot against the ground, listening to the satisfying clicking sound. It made something in her brain itch, like honey and soft, fluffy blankets.
She continued her quiet, but not silent, pacing, tapping her shoes softly in patterns.
