You, he wanted to blurt out.
"Perhaps one who might let me ride even after we wed," he said instead.
"Oh," she said. She smiled. He thought he imagined the sadness to it, though it was most likely wishful thinking. "My husband often galloped. He was rather good at it."
Colin's eye twitched.
I bet he didn't even know the difference between the reins or the damn stirrups, he thought with bitter jealousy.
