Summary
The first time Midoriya, Todoroki and Shinsou met was on a playground, and they were 3 years old. Their quirks had yet to surface, and albeit they all lived under different circumstances with different challenges, they each had confidence in their future. They would still say that they were happy.
A few years later, with them being six years old, they meet again by coincidence. This time, half of Todoroki’s face is wrapped up in a bandage, with his only visible eye being unfocused on everything around them. It wouldn’t matter what any of them said, Shinsou wouldn’t speak a word. Little Midoriya was still full of life, but the others didn’t miss how he would flinch at sudden touch, or shiver at the smell of smoke. Despite their hardship, they find themselves unjudged by the others, and so their long-lasting friendship bloomed. They clung to the safety of eachother.

Sometime in the middle of his third night of sleeplessness, Zuko came up with an idea. The kind of idea that would have made his uncle frown in disapproval and Mai hit him upside the head for being stupid. Luckily, Mai and his uncle were both sleeping and none of the palace staff were comfortable hitting the Fire Lord upside the head for being stupid – not that any of the staff saw him.
Zuko was so sneaky. Like a puma goat. He borrowed some royal guard armour, slipped out of the palace, and chartered a boat in the port.
His insomniac logic was that if he could see Sokka, have a conversation with him and see how happy Sokka was with his bride to be, maybe Zuko would be more comfortable with the idea of Sokka married. Married and having babies and raising them. Sokka would be an amazing father, Zuko knew. He’d be an amazing dad and anyone he chose to marry would probably be a great mom and they would raise a family together.
Zuko was going to throw up.

Soph’ard finds the clone on the roof, looking towards the space port, and the sky above it. That’s not unusual: Any time he’s not working in the inn, sleeping, or pouring over his maps, he can most reliably be found up here. He’d be something of a landmark by now, if he didn’t have a knack for finding just the right spot to not be visible from the ground, or any of the neighboring buildings. Often, the only thing giving him away is the barely-visible whisps of smoke curling up into the air from his cigarette.
