"Zuko told me he's sixteen."
"Seventeen," Zuko corrected Sokka, his sudden interruption startling the others.
"Wait, what do you mean, seventeen?" Sokka asked, shock evident in his face. "I asked you last week how old you were, and you said sixteen." Zuko rolled his eyes, avoiding looking at any of them. "It was true last week." He huffed, scowling. "What? Zuko, you're not making any sense." Sokka complained, getting frustrated. Talking to Zuko was impossible. He either dumped his whole life story or talked in riddles! This time, he chose the latter option.
Aang suddenly spoke up then as he connected the dots. "Wait, we missed your birthday?" He asked, his voice small. "Why didn't you say anything?"Or
The Gaang realize Zuko's birthday had passed without their knowledge. -

[“Everything okay?” was the first thing Sokka said when he picked up after two signals. No hello, just that. Yup, he was definitely gonna freak out.
“Yeah,” Zuko said, “sorry for calling but it was either me or your sister and I don’t trust her.”
“Okay,” Sokka muttered, “you’re doing a great job at convincing me you’re fine so far.”
“Sorry, I swear, everything is fine.”
It was quiet for a moment before Sokka asked, “Okay, so what’s happening?”]

Summary
The monks had told Aang and I of our destinies as coexisting Avatars earlier than usual since they feared there would be a great danger approaching us. I was a naïve kid. I hadn't yet wrapped my mind around the dangers and darkness looming around every corner of this world. I was also too ignorant to realize how stupid it was to think I could trust Aang. He left me to die, meaning he broke the promise we'd made the day we were told of our fates.
I had thought we were to always tough everything out together, but the contrary became clear to me once I was covered in wounds and wearily staring into darkness.
I am Avatar Y/n and this is my testimony of the true events leading to the defeat of the tyrannical Firelord Ozai.
OR
aang and y/n are both Avatars except y/n didnt run away before the Fire Nation attacked. So uh yeah, there are grudges and choices only 12 year olds (112 year olds) make

Summary
"You mind telling us what happened out there?" The earthbender then questioned. "How'd you manage to fall like that?"
"Yeah, I thought you were stronger than that," Sokka said a smirk plastered on his face. Zuko groaned, gripping his still-tingling hands. “I thought I was too,” Zuko admitted quietly. His voice was hoarse, exhaustion clear in his tone. “But... lightning damage isn’t something you can just walk off.”Or
When Ozai shot Zuko with lightning, Zuko managed to redirect it. But what if, despite him doing that, the bolt still left some damage? What if because of that, Zuko's hands were too weak to hold him on the root when Combustion Man attacked? -

Summary
Iroh never meant to tell Ozai about the firebending masters, Ran and Shaw. The blood sport of hunting dragons unnerved him, and he was charged by the Sun Warriors to keep their society, and the dragons, a secret. Iroh obliged.
Ozai never believed his brother really slew the final dragon. He knew a liar when he saw one, and Iroh had never mastered the art of hiding secrets from his younger brother. As a result, the Fire Lord believed a dragon still existed and was ripe for killing.
He decided he would do something about it.
Or rather, that his 13-year-old son would do something about it.
(Aka Ozai suspects the last dragon is still alive and sends Zuko to finish it off.)

Summary
The takeover of Ba Sing Se went splendidly for Azula. She got exactly what she wanted (at least, that's what she told herself) and did what she had been sent to do. She could return home to the Fire Nation as a victorious princess, once again proving her worth as the future Fire Lord.
One can only assume that, if things went well for Azula, then they did not end so well for Team Avatar.
Aang has to find himself a firebending teacher, and he knows time is running out before Ozai wreaks havoc during Sozin's comet. (which includes, but is not limited to, abandoning his daughter for world domination, causing the second genocide but it's Earth Kingdom edition, and overall being the jerk everyone knows he is)
Will Aang find a teacher?
Oh, yes he will.
He just has to keep his options open.
(aka Azula questions her life choices, Katara thinks bloodbending can be good, and everything descends into chaos for a while)

Summary
After the Fire Nation caused a century long war-torn world, it is up to the Avatar and his friends to bring back peace and balance to the world, and their own hearts. AU Avatar world. Heavily based on the series with slightly different interactions and more than what the show incorporated. Zutara, Sukka, Taang, Mai-Lee. Mature themes: sex, language, gory detailing.

Summary
Everything, and everyone, lived in harmony until the Fire Nation paid the Air Nomads a 'friendly' visit.
A hundred years later, Katara and Sokka find a boy in an iceberg, and their teenage lives are turned upside down. They, and a girl they meet along the way, decide that this new boy has a destiny to fulfill and become his companions, travelling all over the world, meeting new people, seeing things they'd never imagined they would see.
It's all fine and dandy.
Only one problem: They have a prince on their tails.
(aka Avatar but Zuko decides earlier that having friends isn't such a bad idea)

Summary
After the battle at the north pole, Aang and his friends know he needs an earthbending teacher, and soon. Seems easy enough if they can make their way to the Earth Kingdom. Sure, they might have crazy people to fight and long stretches of land to cross, but it's nothing they haven't faced yet.
There's only one problem (again):
They have a princess (not a prince) on their tails.
And she's more dangerous and deadly than her brother.
(aka Sokka and Zuko are sassing each other, the Gaang are a bunch of idiotic teenagers trying to run a family while running from the law, and Azula decides that murder is definitely a great way to spend the evening)

Summary
"You jumped in front of lightning,” Iroh says, and there’s a surprising amount of admonishment in his voice for a watertribe boy he’s known for all of five weeks. “After you went down, you were surrounded by the Dai Li: the avatar couldn’t reach you, and he fled."
