Summary

It started as another off-campus party. Cheap lights, louder music, glitter in the drinks.
By morning, the city was quiet.Rumi ran. Zoey opened the door. Mira locked it.
Now they’re holed up in a dorm suite as sirens fade, broadcasts cut to black, and the people outside move in perfect, terrible unison.Something is wrong with the way they move.
No one knows what it is or how it spreads.Each supply run reveals more: shimmering powder, dissolving beads, whispers of something alive in the drink. The closer they get, the tighter the walls press, and the harder it is to tell contamination from survival, or fear from love.
(“There was a party,” she said. “Warehouse. It got… ugly. People were...fighting. I left.”
Mira’s head tilted. “Ugly how?”
“Just… a lot. Punching, biting, shoving. I didn’t” Rumi swallowed. Her mouth was dry; the sirens out there were wet. “I didn’t stay.”
Mira took a step closer, soft-soled shoes not making a sound on the rug. “You showed up with other people’s blood on you.” A beat. “None of it is yours.”)

The walls caging you in were cold, the ground you walked on was freezing, like walking barefoot on an ice block, but the heaviness in your heart was the coldest sensation you’ve felt these past few months.
Bile rose up your throat but you swallowed it down, chest heaving and whole body aching. It wasn’t the physical pain that had tears threatening to fall from the corners of your eyes. No. It was the emotional pain, the exhaustion that came with the everyday turmoil you experienced.
The pain of seeing such events unfold, of needing to accept this new reality, to make peace with the fact that you’ll get plenty more of even worse sights in the future.
You inhaled a shaky breath, willing to get yourself together, to bring back your composure as if you weren’t a second away from collapsing in the worst possible place ever.
You rounded the corner, bottom lip bleeding underneath your teeth, not that you payed the sting any mind, legs locking in place.
Everything slowed down to a stop.

A original story based on a dream I had about a trans masc teen in a zombie apocalypse who is forced to adopt a toddler, oh and of course all the trauma that they both have. =]
Also, idk if what I have really counts as "Graphic Violence" but there is killing zombies with guns and the gore that comes with zombies, so use your own discretion please and if it makes you uncomfortable, don't feel obligated to read all of it.
It is also children and teens going through this trauma, so again, use discretion.
