Summary
“It’s you!” Ranpo points a finger at the man, dramatizing his voice to match the other’s. Then he leans back in his chair and kicks his feet up on the desk. “What? Were you trying to get a detective to sniff me out? Congratulations, you found me without one.”
“Preposterous,” Poe seethes, gripping the door handle behind him like his life depends on it. Ranpo rolls his eyes. Seriously, how many noir films has this guy seen to act like this? “I would never get law enforcement involved in such an affair! No, I have other reasons to speak to a detective.” He stops, chokes, and Ranpo grins. “Please don’t tell me you’re the detective here.”
“That’s right.” Ranpo offers a hand. “Edogawa Ranpo, at your service.”
After a disastrous first meeting, Ranpo can't seem to forget about Poe, but after several chance meetings, they form a tentative partnership to pursue their passions. Between solving mysteries and taking care of a dog, falling in love with a guy who he thought was nothing more than a rich jerk turns out to be far easier than Ranpo excpected.

He had forgot that, during his last trip to Boston to attend a literary convention, Ranpo had come with him. And even though he didn’t want people there to know about his personal life, a couple of persons had caught them sharing a quick kiss before Edgar’s conference. But the two fans had immediately run away and because of that, added to the fact that the conference was starting soon, he had basically forgotten about it.

Summary
While exploring the woods in pursuit of clues for a case of serial bicycle theft, Edogawa Ranpo winds up meeting an American writer and his pet raccoon. The stranger, on a writer's retreat, winds up taking Ranpo home and tending to his wounds. Ranpo can't ignore his intense interest in the writer, but he can hide it, at least until circumstances lead to more than a discovery of attraction.

Beauty is illustrated in a picture which is as valuable and untouchable as the dense clouds in the bluest of skies. Some might think everything is set up simply for entertaining intellectuals— albeit its importance in society.
Although, no matter the different expositions of different individuals. The meaning of an art piece in a museum wouldn’t compare as much to the thought process of the one person who truly knows the story behind them.
It's arguably better if they are the person a piece was dedicated to.

The man- Ed- looks puzzled for a second. Probably because he never told him it was a cat- but it’s obvious. Hilariously he ‘corrects’ Ranpo “it’s a racoon.”
Ranpo just laughs- the eccentricity of authors goes unsaid but a racoon?
That’s one hell of a lie.

He remembers it clearly; it was just the two of them, Poe and Ranpo standing in the room with dark sunken walls and checkered floorboards. The air in the dimly lit study was thick with unspoken calculations and the intense fervor to win. What stood out to Ranpo the most wasn’t the case or the setting they were in, it was his opponent. He had overgrown, wavy dark violet hair that fell on top of his shoulders and bangs that covered most of his face. Ranpo could go on and on again about his alluring and mysterious appearance, but one thing that captured his undivided attention were his dark, mesmerizing eyes.
Was it fear or love?
Maybe, in the end, they weren't so different after all.
