Lazer focused on his work, Erik seldom has attention to spare for the interpersonal politics that play out around him. Far more interested in the wildlife than in whatever his colleagues are up to, it's not until the Aevis hunter's behavior begins deviating from the norm that he recalls Werner's advice.
In the end, humans are just animals. And frightened animals are known to behave erratically.
