When Aleksander Morozov receives her letter, he’s intrigued-- intrigued enough to make a detour to Keramzin to meet her. He immediately recognizes her symptoms of wasting sickness and tests to see what kind of Grisha she is. He isn't expecting her to be the Sun Summoner, or to find himself so immediately infatuated with her.

The Second Army gets restless and Alina becomes concerned, so she goes to check on Aleksander. What she finds is worse than she thought. Aleksander refuses to summon and faces the burning heat of wasting sickness. He has lost his will to lead, is sinking into himself, and has broken down from being in control from so long. Alina chooses to help him recover & surrender to his desire to be cared for, to release the burden of needing to protect everyone.
AKA, Hozier's "Work Song" wreaked havoc on my heart and I imagined simp/sub Aleksander Morozova coming undone and relinquishing control to soft Dom Alina, who treats him with compassion despite his past. They both learn to transform their pain into trust and the foundations for loving connection. SOFTNESS ahead.
