    Phil convinces the rest of the Syndicate to come with him to pursue Technoblade, the piglin having left a few moons ago on a mission from their Goddess and they stumble into a battle between world-rending forces.

    Though he never wanted to be the one to train Tommy, he was grateful his little sun asked as it gave him an opportunity to strengthen his own muscles again. It was amazing how fast it came back as he sparred with his younger brother, remembering how it felt in the old days when he was crossing blades with the members of his sounder in preparation for the next big siege.

    He didn’t regret what he left behind, but he couldn’t help being nostalgic seeing the little signs of what he used to know in every swing of Tommy’s sword or each strengthening exercise they performed together.

    The sunlight glinted off Tommy’s golden hair, reminding Techno that the gold that was most precious to him was no longer jewelry but instead his baby brother.

    Technoblade returns from his pilgrimage to find the sole remaining member of his family and for both their sakes he makes a choice to leave the nether for the safety of the overworld.

    When Phil had finished his task they switched spots; Techno’s turn to preen his grand crowfeather wings of any broken feathers and realign miniscule hooks with precise movements. It was a treasured routine they both enjoyed immensely, those soft few moments at sunrise and sunset were precious times of kindness only warriors who knew each other for centuries would bear witness too.

    It didn’t matter the location, dimension, era they lived in, this time was their shared happy place. These small moments of gentle touch were used to ground their hearts and speak of anything that troubled them, with the shared trust neither would ever divulge what the other confessed. But this morning was not one that began in strife so instead they basked in the other’s careful ministrations as Techno works away plucking molted feathers away and letting them fall to the ground to be swept up later.

    “I just…I don’t want yo—to leave you.” Phil stumbled over his words, clearly struggling with putting a sentence together. “Swear to me you will stay here ‘til I return.”

    A million unspoken things were traded in their gaze ; a broken piglin finally learning what it is to completely trust peering at the crow who gave him a second chance after receiving his own, among a myriad of other emotions.

    “I swear. I won’t leave your home.”

    Phil stumbles across a wounded Technoblade in the nether and offers to save his life, bringing him back to the overworld their new life begins together with the help of otherworldly blessings upon them both.
