The gods weren't pleased about the whole "Persephone" thing, and this whole war is really getting in the way of Hypnos' work. So he hatches a plan to end the war that will probably not get him chained to a rock getting his liver eaten. A good 60-40% chance.
He would become Olympus' Persephone. And he would tell nobody where he was going.
But...why did he care whether there was war or not...?

Again, he knew what Zagreus meant, of course. He really wasn't stupid. He just wanted to be sure, completely sure, before doing anything he could regret. He really didn't want to lose what they had. That, and the tiniest bit of humor would hopefully make it easier for him to calm himself down.
Zagreus chuckled, his expression softening.
"Yes, hand holding and smooching kind of like."

Such a pretty little thing he is, with the bright pink of her rope (and the smears of her lipstick on his face and chest) a wonderful contrast on his almost lilac almost grey skin. Seeing his lithe, clumsy frame taut and all laid out for her, seeing the way his mussed and unruly hair spills out bright and brilliant onto the sheets like some sort of halo– it’s quite the sight.
Almost makes her want to forget about the frankly offensive words that fall out of those far too kissable lips. Almost.
It truly is unfortunate that her would be perfect plaything likes to run his mouth.Ah, but if Megaera is any good at her job, then that won’t be too hard to fix.

Zagreus is leaving, and Hypnos can't come with him. They say their goodbyes, spend their last night together, only to realize it won't be a clean break: it's going to hurt a lot more than they thought.
That hurt starts to become pain for Hypnos, which becomes illness, which becomes something he's terrified to admit to himself, much less tell Zagreus.
Zagreus is leaving, and Hypnos is pregnant.
