Left with more questions than answers, Ellie and Dave must navigate new and old challenges to correct the timeline and find their happy endings once and for all.

Henry adjusted his cloak against the cold wind, the Toppat King’s insignia still fresh and defiant on his shoulder. He hadn’t expected much from this patrol. A standard sweep of the old supply caches near the southern cliffs. The Toppats were consolidating now—what hadn’t been taken from the chaos of the government's retreat had been buried, forgotten, or left to rot. But then he saw it. A flicker of red and brown behind the wreckage of a downed chopper—military-grade. Old, scorched, partially buried in sand, and twisted steel. He recognized the model. More importantly, he recognized the man slumped against its hull. “Charles…?”
Henry didn’t realize he’d said it aloud until the name caught in his throat. The pilot didn’t respond. He was half-buried under debris, one leg clearly broken, a deep gash along his side that had long since dried to a crusted black. His goggles hung loose around his neck, cracked. His uniform was torn, his radio shattered, but he was breathing—shallow and uneven, but breathing. Henry dropped to his knees, hands already working to clear the wreckage.

He hit the ledge hard with his ankle, pain shooting up his leg. He managed to grip the edge, fingers straining. “I’m good! I’m good!” he gasped, but his foot throbbed violently, already swelling. Charles hovered closer, the helicopter blades kicking up a storm. “You don’t sound good! What happened?”
“Twisted my ankle, I think. Can’t tell if it’s a sprain or the worst charley horse in history.” He winced. “But I can still climb.”
“You always say that, and then I find you passed out in a broom closet later.”
“Once. That happened once.”
The comm crackled with Charles’s sigh. “Okay. New plan. I’m gonna drop a line. You hook in, and I’ll swing you around to the rear entrance. It’s lower-risk and way cooler.” Henry chuckled despite himself. “That’s why you’re the brains.”
“Don’t patronize me while I’m saving your life.”
