She invites him on a mission with her eco-terrorist group Avalanche to keep an eye on him, but she keeps discovering more and more strange discrepancies about his version of the past and her own. She decides to continue to accompany him, even on his journey to defeat the legendary Sephiroth. What comes after is a story of love, mystery, grief, and friendship.

But Pack is not a blank check, to cover all wrongs. When Sephiroth's alien heritage makes itself manifest at the worst possible time, and Nibelheim burns, Zack Fair still stands against him, and so does the little infantry trooper whose grief and rage may well destroy their pack for good. Nor does the allure of pack draw in the betrayed man with one arm, or the girl whose ancestry is as powerful and subtle as Sephiroth's own. or even Cloud's old childhood friend. They have a lot of ground to cover and a lot of understanding to reach, before this pack can hope to be whole.
But with time, and with Sephiroth's mysterious resurrection, they'll have to figure it out.

After meeting each other because of one misunderstanding, the both of them encounters each other again and again in unexpected situations that they never thought to be in. They’re adults, they should know how to handle it.

The sob that breaks the silence doesn’t surprise him—it’s become obvious by now that Tifa Lockhart isn’t the cold and composed woman she always pretends to be. She’s like him or anyone else—human and filled to the brim with emotions that eventually overflow, drowning their minds. Cloud detaches himself from the window, picking up the box of tissues on the desk before sitting next to her, making sure to keep a certain distance. He extends his hand with the box while staring straight ahead; he gets the impression she wouldn’t want him looking at her right now.
“Tissues?” he says, voice soft and a little awkward.
(Or, that one time Cloud thought being smooth was a good idea—and the trouble it got him into.)
