“Do you ever think about what’s beyond us?”
The stars looked awfully bright tonight. Even through the Capitol’s dome, Koschei could see just how the light of the stars curved against the night sky.
He did not answer Theta’s question— not immediately. He gave it a moment to simmer, to sit between them— a moment to ache. He gave Theta a moment to think about the stupidity of what he was truly asking. It was taught to every Time Lord at the mere age of 8; Gallifrey is your home. You cannot leave. You cannot wander. You become a soldier or a Time Lord, not an adventurer. TARDIS’s are for the important people, not stupid children. Koschei wanted to remind him of everything they’ve been taught.
“We’re not supposed to,” Koschei responded instead.
