“Will…” Mike stared at the book he’d picked up moments ago, a dark scrawl on the page. Will had been experimenting with mediums lately, and it was clear he’d taken a liking to charcoal. It swirled effortlessly, magically, the monotone paper being a sea of his creation. “Why are our DnD characters kissing?” He breathed, voice quiet as he stared unabashedly.
It was impossible to register his emotion; Mike’s face was as blank as a summer sky. Try as he might, Will couldn’t push a single word past his lips.
“Will?” It’s practically a whisper now.

He turns towards the door and raises the gun to it, waiting for something to break the door down any second.
But… Silence.
He only hears his own ragged breaths and small, dry sobs.
Then, a creeping feeling down his spine as the room grows infinitely colder, a shadow from behind him casting against the wall in front of him. He turns, petrified as the small lightbulb hanging from the ceiling flickers once, twice, and everything goes dark.

Keith got kicked out the Garrison six months ago, and if there's one place he never wanted to go back to, it was there. It had too many memories, ones that used to be happy that were now shrouded in blue. Too many memories that were stained by what happened, turned happy into sad. And it was too risky to go there, because if he did, Keith could get caught.
But Keith had to go to find out what was calling to him in that desert, to see why he was told he had to show up at the Garrison at that time. It was just supposed to be a quick mission: take whatever it is before the Garrison gets it, and get out.
And then a boy with blue eyes and brown hair comes marching into the door, and Keith feels like he's seen a ghost.
