“You’re good at this,” Kuwabara mutters.
Kurama looks up, eyes unreadable. “At what?”
“All of it. Raising him. Running the shop. Not losing your mind.”
“You’re not so bad at it yourself,” Kurama says, voice quiet, “You may crash forward, Kazuma, but you seem to land in the right places.”
Kuwabara didn’t mean to fall into something complicated. He’s just tutoring Shura—math problems, dinner after, nothing serious. But Kurama is soft-spoken and sharp-edged, and the lines between help and hope start to blur.
There’s a kid in the middle, an ex in the shadows, and a choice that might be something like love—if either of them are brave enough to name it.

An assassination attempt on his and his son's life has Yomi ready to rage war against Reikai. In a moment of anger, he mistakes Kazuma Kuwabara as an SDF member and takes the human hostage. Intending to use Kuwabara against Koenma and the former team Urameshi, Yomi wants to know who made an attempt at his son's life.
Now held hostage within Yomi's home, Kuwabara starts to pick up on the suspicious behavior of one of Yomi's men. Suspecting that someone is trying to set Yomi against the Reikai to cause chaos, Kuwabara must convince Yomi that it's not Koenma out to get him. Please note that this story is not *entirely* discontinued. But instead of continuing to add to it, I'm going to split the already-written stories up into their own one-shots, making them easier to see and find, as well as conforming more to the design of the rest of the series. Plus, this way, I'll be able to add more than one story per month of Masaki's first year! So stay tuned for these stories to be released as separate one-shots soon. I'm also going to be rewriting each chapter, and compiling them all into a mini-series, kind of like the "Ryu" series. The first chapter will not be released as a separate one-shot, since it's excerpted from an existing story, but the rest will. Yusuke and the much extended gang have just returned for their third successful King's Tournament. Things had grown peaceful between the three realms but there were still many demon's, older and more powerful, that clung to the old ways and resisted change. And thus their main focus had shifted; to keep those who would destroy what they'd worked so hard to achieve from gaining the power of the King of Demon world. Mukuro's team, guarding the boundaries of demon world, helped keep those rogue human eaters from crossing. But even they grew restless and excited at the onset of the great tournament. Leaving their borders vulnerable.
Meanwhile a whisper has began to circulate, as rumor's do, of wolf hunters returning, of the collector's, both demon and human, stirring in the dark underbelly of the world. But that couldn't be true, as those who grew up in demon world new, the wolves had fallen prey to their own hubris, and died off long ago.
