Summary
Before they met, William was a professor through and through. It made him happy to teach his students mathematics. He spent days preparing his lectures. And when he didn't have much to do, he would just sit and read or spend his free time with his brothers. Only in the dark nights did William hardly find peace. An old trauma that had burdened him for many, many years. And which was also one of the many reasons why William was so absorbed in his work. Sometimes, when he lay in bed and his mind seemed unable to find peace, William would think about what had happened. A faint hope of somehow processing what he had experienced. But the opposite was often the case. It tormented him so much that he felt like throwing up. Some days, William lay still in his bed. The covers were pulled over his head. Curled up like a small child trying to escape the outside world. Then he lacked the strength to get up again. On those lonely days, his brothers tried to be there for him. Only for their sake, he carried on even though he couldn't anymore.
