He was too busy watching the alley he came from to notice someone come up behind him until they put a hand on his shoulder.
The gesture caused the turtle to whirl around and bite whoever touched him on reflex. The person didn’t seem phased, but rather surprised by the sudden hostility in the turtle.

When Mikey creates a portal for Leo to escape the Prison Dimension it doesn’t lead to Staten Island. Leo is kidnapped by the EPF and experimented on due to all the publicity surrounding mutants after the recent alien invasion. When Leo ends up escaping he’s not the same turtle he was when he was captured.
