Summary
My take on the post-Yurgir confession.
First scene is the confession scene itself, which rehashes almost all of the in-game dialogue, but with the added perspective of Tav/Durge and her feelings. A lot of this scene is basically what you already know from the game, except for what's going on in my Tav's head. If you prefer reading fics that aren't so heavily taken from the game, skip to the second scene, which explores what happens after the confession and they figure out how to be together for the rest of the night (fluffy and sweet if that's what you are looking for).
Update: After this was posted, I started getting lots of ideas for expanding it and for a new scene as well. It's been edited quite a bit since posting, and I've added a second chapter for the new scene. It's complete now!

Astarion gets the idea to use the illithid tadpole's powers to try and access some of Whisper's forgotten memories. Unfortunately, diving into Whisper's mind allows his own memories to be shared through the connection in return. There's a lot of pain in both of their pasts, and it's very easy to get swept up in the memories.

Whisper hesitated. Other than mild telepathy among the party, she’d used the tadpole’s power deliberately only once: against a goblin to allow the party to walk into the goblin camp unchallenged. The power it gave her to command others was intoxicating, and frightening.
But this would be different, wouldn’t it? She and Astarion wouldn’t be using it to exert control. It would be with permission to just dig through memories. And if it was successful, everyone just might be a little safer around her.
“Okay, let’s try it,” Whisper agreed.
Astarion walked past her and opened up the flap of her tent, motioning for her to lead the way inside. “Let’s get comfortable for this,” he suggested.

It has been a few months since the battle with the Netherbrain and Baldur's Gate is trying to rebuild.
As heroes of the Sword Coast, the once tadpoled companions head out for new adventures. Astarion finds a temporary cure so he can walk in the sunlight. Shadowheart reconnects with her parents and her goddess Selune. Karlach and Wyll head to Avernus to find a fix for her infernal engine. Tav is alone.
Living in the Lower City with Scratch and the Owlbear cub, Tav keeps herself to herself. Since Gale's sacrifice, she has refused her friends pleas to join them on their adventures and instead burrows herself away in a dingy house she calls home. This is all set to change when the charismatic Archduke reaches out and offers her a deal. Rumours of the Crown of Karsus resurfacing, a Bhaalspawn murder cult on the rise and the chance for Tav to regain what she has lost.
All she needs to do is survive.

She opens her mouth to speak, and then Dalteli tries forcing the door open with all the grace of a lumbering crocodile. It jostles loudly, the sound of a strong lock keeping it shut. Both Shadowheart and Tavara share a knowing look as Dalteli’s attempt at opening it turns into a firm fist banging against the door.
“You won’t get that open easily. Maybe there’s another entrance,” Shadowheart says.
And Tavara chirps up for support.
“Or we can try to pick the lock?”
Dalteli stops punching only to turn around and punch air at Tavara.
“Do you see anything useful here?” she spits.

“Then we’ll do them all, dammit!” The vampire snapped at Wyll. “That hellion was willing to deal with Cazador and his minions for me! Saving them from that shapeshifting lunatic would be child’s play after that. Or do any of you have another idea?”
None spoke as they all were of equal mind. Whether it was saving Halsin from the goblin camp to angering goddesses for Shadowheart, Gale, and Lae’zel, Tav had helped them without hesitation. It was about time they had returned the favor.
Tav was theirs, and nothing would take the child away if they had anything to say about it.
