Two friends, Tim Stoker and Sasha James, ended up meeting through their shared job. One unfortunate day, they encounter what they could only describe as a ghost. This causes them to quit their jobs, and start their own business in ghost hunting.
This ended up being the worst idea the two have ever had.

“Oh, gosh, I -- I’m so sorry, here let me -- sorry, let me help you with that,” Martin stammers, bending down to help the stranger he’d just plowed into pick up his large stack of books. He can’t believe it, was he really so lost in thought about how pretty the cover of this copy of Pride and Prejudice was that he’d rounded the corner and smashed into a random guy?
“Oh, it’s quite alright. Thank you,” the random guy responds, straightening up and shifting the stack of books in his arms. He’s got a sort of “tired, grubby professor look,” that Martin secretly thinks is kind of hot. At least, he does until Mr. Professor glances at the book in Martin’s hands and sneers. “Pride and Prejudice? Really?”

Things might have been easier if it weren't for a little wrench in their plans: Martin. Now they have to find a way to keep Jon calm and keep Martin from getting suspicious.

“Right now, I just want to focus on us, not…the institute,” Martin said, brushing back Tim’s hair. He kissed his forehead, and Tim melted against the touch. “And this is pretty nice…”
“Where do we go from here, then?” Jon asked, hesitant glances passing to each of them.
“I say we go to Camelot,” Tim said.
“I’d like to…” Sasha said sheepishly.
“As would I…” Martin said.
Jon took a deep breath, and he nodded slowly. “Camelot it is, then.”

Sasha is on the phone and typing at her laptop, asking questions. Tim is sorting through stacks of papers, though it doesn’t seem like he’s actually doing anything more than just shuffling papers around to look busy.
Tim looks up at him and tilts his head, “Leaving already? It’s a normal time of night.”
Jon sighs at the archivist’s statement--and the fact that Sasha got a small smile on her face at his words, “Yes, I do have an event that I need to get ready for. I’d rather not be late.”
“Then where are you going? What is this ‘event’ you have?”
“If you must know,” The shorter rubs at his temple with his free hand, “I have a date. That, once again, I’d rather not be late to, so if you would excuse me.”
“You have a date!?” Tim shouts, standing up abruptly. His chair teeters behind him but doesn’t clatter to the ground, “Jonathan Sims has a date!?”
...
Tim and Sasha learn that Jon has a dating life and they want to figure out just who managed to charm him. Turns out it's Martin, who Jon has been married to for a year.

Jon has nightmares on a nightly basis, yes. Some nights, after he abruptly awakes, panicked and fearful, he’ll simply sit there, failing to will away the hellish images his mind provides him with.
Most nights, though, he finds himself standing at Martin’s open bedroom door, just shy of passing over the threshold that taunts him. Mocking him for the way his heart tugs at the sight of Martin sleeping peacefully, how Jon so desperately wishes to curl up beside him- to be wrapped in his comforting arms, free of nightmares.
He hated entertaining the thought, brutally aware of its impossibility.
That is, until he was made -very- aware, that it apparently isn’t as impossible as he’d originally thought.
Or, Sleepy cuddles and sleepy kisses? Absolutely.

And yet in his heart, he knew that he knew the voice. The sound of approaching footsteps snapped him out of his thoughts, though he still couldn’t see the person as they spoke again. “I… I’m here to read to you today.”
“I don’t know you,” he lied. He shouldn’t know this person but he did but he also didn’t. Their voice was like a memory of a memory, just far enough away that he couldn’t grasp at it. “Why would you be here to read to me?”
Though he couldn’t see the person, he could sense their hesitation. “It’s a very good story. One that I’d like to share with you if you’re open to it.”

The world had reset itself.
That was the best way Jon could think to describe it. Without the influence of the powers that had gripped this universe for so long, it simply reset. And the only ones who seemed to notice were the former Archives staff. Things were back to normal, so normal that even Tim and Sasha had come back, as if they had never been gone in the first place. Technically in this world, they hadn’t been. The things that had ripped them away were no longer existing. They were back, things were normal, things were good.
And yet Jon still felt so guilty.
