Especially when good ol’ Dad decides Lucifer doesn’t deserve love and sends down Uriel to kill Chloe and punish Lucifer.Years later, after pushing Chloe out of mind he returns to Earth. Of course, with his luck, he meets a reincarnation of the Chloe he had once loved. Drawn to her, and completely desperate to have the women he loved back, he joins her on her investigation.

“I came because I missed you.”
Lucifer turns. There’s some life in his eyes in the form of shock as he stares up at Alastor. Alastor is too horrified and furious with himself to fully register it.
“You missed me?” Lucifer repeats, his skepticism loud and clear.
Alastor resists the urge to throw himself off the roof. Doing so won’t change what he’s said. And he can’t very well lie and deny the sincerity of his words. Lucifer would immediately teleport him away to who knows where.
“…yes,” Alastor admits through clenched teeth. “I missed you.”
Lucifer blinks at him wordlessly as the seconds tick by. Then he huffs and looks back out at the storm.
“As if I’d believe that.”

Lucifer is very aware that certain aspects of personal grooming tend to go out the window for him on bad days (or weeks—or months). He does his best to keep up with it—he really does! It's just that the more visible things like his hair and clothes get priority, and by the times he realizes what a disaster his living space has become, or even worse, his wings...
Things were easier when he was living alone and there was nobody else around to notice things like the powder down that he scatters all over the place when he hasn't preened himself properly in too long. At least, they were until someone reaches out a helping hand.
