Niccolò "Nico" di Angelo is a knight of the Silver Order, a valiant warrior who fights the monsters that emerge from the Shadow at the borders of the Realms. He is also a vampire, relying on blood donations from those he protects, taking as little as possible and always working alone.
However, after being slain defending a village by himself and needing to be brought back to unlife (again), he's been forbidden from venturing on his own. Though not many knights are keen to have a vampire as a companion, a strange series of targeted attacks against members of the Golden Order has Nico receiving a request for partnership from William "Will" Solace.
It should be simple. The golden knight needs a protector, the silver knight needs a companion.
But why does it feel like there's something missing? Why are the creatures of the Shadow, usually mindless and uncoordinated, going after golden knights? And why is Will being so secretive about his visit to King Kronos?

Rin was sitting on your couch when you arrived, arms crossed, expression sour as usual. Dropping your jacket on the back of the couch you rolled up your sleeve and sat next to him. You held your wrist up to him, but he recoiled as though toxins were seeping out of your pores.
"Wash yourself first. You stink," Rin stood up and started out of the room.
If you hadn't dealt with his bullshit before you'd actually be offended, but this was Rin Itoshi. You would call your greedy grandmother, but she'd never answer because you were the only ungrateful grandchild she had.
"No. You need sustenance so badly that you intrude on my free time, then you'll feed now, as is."
You had never directly challenged either Itoshi brother in the eight years you'd been assigned as their local "attendant".
Rin stopped, his shoulders tensed up. Without turning around, he spoke, his tone far colder than you'd ever heard it.
"You will wash yourself before I feed. I will forget your backtalk this once. Don't test me further."
