Jordan blinks. “Why?”
“She’s proposing a joint appearance. Maybe a red carpet, maybe a charity event. Something clean. Something soft. Her client’s image is pristine, and yours—” she gestures vaguely, “—needs a little polish.”
Jordan’s stomach flips.
“What exactly are you trying to do and who is this client,” they ask, voice low.
“Nothing for you to trouble yourself with,” their manager cuts in. “Not yet. This is business and I can’t have you ruining this before it even starts, so we’ll handle the logistics. You just show up and smile.”

So basically, it's a cannon divergence from the finale of the first season (no white room), basically picks up a couple of days after the events of the finale. I wanted to write a fic about what it would be like if they had a chance at a "normal" life. Or as normal as it can be. Vought still exists and they're still a bunch of bastards, but Jordan and Marie's goals are no longer aligned with wanting to be in The Seven. Emma has a chance to do things how she wants to (none of the bullshit with her mom and Vought). And Andre also has an interesting arc going on imo.
It's gonna be a long, multi chapter fic. There will be time skips. Basically working our way through their lives, with a special focus on Marie and Jordan and how their relationship unfolds as they grow up and find their places in the world, growing into their own people and all that jazz. There will be angst!!! So much that I start out with a lot of soft fluff shit, lol. But by chapter 6 / 7 angst starts coming in full force. Which is fun for me, but yeah. There will be tears, I apologize.

Marie Moreau, the main character, harbors blood manipulation/bending powers, while Jordan Li possesses quick-acting gender transformation abilities; they can shift between male and female forms, each with their own set of powers. The short story features another character, Rufus, who bears telepathic powers and can teleport himself with another person if they get close enough to him. Before this short story took place, Jordan had protected the whole school from chaos by fighting off “Golden Boy,” but the school administration believed that it was Marie who did, giving her all the credit and leaving none for Jordan, which is why Jordan and Marie are “rivals”.
