Time wears him down like sandpaper, its edges grate hard and fast against his mandible, each year passes with the promise of another, a morning yet to come, a shared meal to look forward to, spluttering of water in the adjacent koi pond, fishes with their bodies heaving, mass of flesh accumulating, fat and full, he would find, in time, himself softening like an appendage bent to will. For a moment, he’s back in the hospital with his head throbbing and immense pain coursing through his veins, his lungs on the verge of collapse, his body begging for it all to end. He’s tired, so tired. Tired of not knowing anything, tired of the constant aches, tired of trying to find himself with nothing to show.
“I don’t understand.” His voice, over the flames and screams in his head, comes out quiet. He’s not sure if he even said the words out loud or if he merely moved his lips, mute with nothing but ragged breath escaping.
A strong arm pulls him back into the priest’s warm chest.
“You reek of monkey.”Temporary amnesia due to severe trauma. It’s all the doctor can tell Satoru when he wakes up bloodied and bruised with no ID on him and no fingerprints matching any record. Plagued with the idea that his life must have been meaningless if no one is even looking for him, Satoru finds himself in front of a buddhist temple that proves him otherwise. As the haze around his memories clears, the guesses of who did this to him and why turn muddier and muddier.

In the end, a part of Gojo truly had died that day — perhaps the most intrinsic part, important facets of his identity suddenly obliterated. A sorcerer’s life is shaped by awful, terrible things, rhythmed by horror and interspersed by sorrow, but the nature of this loss is new. It’s the mourning of the self, the one fatality Gojo was never prepared to grieve.
To witness his hurt is both a privilege and a curse.

Gojo lets out a sad chuckle, his hand swirling the whiskey inside his glass.

Gojo looks up at the soft smile you graced him with. “Teach me what?”
You cock your head to the side, still grinning at him. “How to enjoy being human, sir.”
If you take away the strength from the strongest, what is he left with?
Satoru Gojo wakes up in a reality where he was born as a regular human with no cursed energy. -

Something was wrong. Terribly wrong.
Not sensing cursed energy from Toji was to be expected. What wasn't to be expected was not sensing a lick of cursed energy anywhere else at all. His eyes wildly took in his surroundings, eventually turning his head this way and that as if desperately looking for something, anything. Any sign of cursed energy.
From the staff's perspective, they just thought he might have been panicking with the new environment. Disorientation and hysteria were common factors to consider in patients like him. "At ease, you're at Tokyo Metropolitan Youmei hospital. You've been comatose for nearly 6 months. Do you remember your own name?" Toji drawled out in that deep voice of his, seemingly trying to placate him.
OR
Gojo wakes up outside of the prison realm but instead of finding whoever unsealed him, he wakes up to a hospital room and a lack of cursed energy.
