Summary
Starbuck sells his soul in order to save the ship and succeeds. Vampire onboard causes a mutiny out of fear. Pequod returns homeward driven by the Fates' winds. Ahab has gone mad. A pirate ship fucks around and finds out.
In Nantucket Bildad and Peleg have lent money to Starbuck's wife and driven her out of her home because she was unable to pay it back, but that is not the worst of the news waiting.
Revenge-arc returns. The ship is returning and after sunset there's nowhere to run..."What's the difference of slaying humans and whales?" "For one, humans are much smaller and easier to kill."

But now the blunt, grimy jumble of the street cobbles seems to reject him, only for his dismasted, unbalanced body to reject it in turn. Starbuck loves Ahab profoundly (though surely not, he tells himself, in an Ishmael-and-Queequeg-ish sort of way). At the beginning of the voyage, when Ahab is mysteriously incapacitated in his cabin, that love means offering help, support and comfort. But what does it mean toward the end, when it comes into conflict with Starbuck’s love and duty towards the rest of the crew, himself, his family and – above all – God?
Canon divergence from the time the Pequod meets the Rachel. Starbuck gets his Quaker on with some non-violent resistance, but in the chaos that follows Ahab hits his head and loses his memory of all events since just before his first encounter with Moby Dick. Or so it seems … Is it really amnesia, or is it a way of backing down from his doomed quest without losing face?
