The past Alear was different, though; his grief was distinct—it was the grief of someone who never had a choice of anything; it was the grief of someone robbed of their own life.

Summary
Love. It was a fruitless, hopeless kind of word, unfamiliar on her tongue as all other things dripped in fondness. Such words didn't apply to Fell Beasts. Like all her siblings, in the eyes of her sire she was a nameless thing. Only worth the results she could produce, owing her life and her love to him for the curse of having been born. She'd lost track of how many siblings and half siblings she'd had at one point. So many died in the fight against the Divine Dragons. Even more were killed by Sombron himself. She too would be just another number if she couldn't do this. It was a task and then some trying to get her hands on the eleven emblem rings she'd already managed, but the last would be the trickiest. Because that was a ring in possession of the one and only remaining being Alear's father had regarded as a threat.
Lumera, the last of the Divine Dragons. Alear could do it though. She had to. After all, if she didn't...
It was so cold outside.
Or, Alear meets Lumera way earlier than in canon and learns that family is something you choose. The bonds we choose to forge transcend much farther than the ones we're born to. On a tilted axis, fate shifts.

Summary
Upon waking up on a snow-covered mountain path, Alear struggled to collect their thoughts. The hazy yet vivid memory of battling a stranger who seemed to have their own face, as well as another who resembled that of their own little sister Veyle, continued to soak within their mind.
And on top of all of this, they had been awoken by Divine Dragon Lumera herself, secretly promising to meet up later after Alear had reported back to the Fell Dragon, Sombron, about their most recent battle.

Despite her lack of hope that there is no way she will see past the end of this war, Alear fights. But after a chance meeting with the Divine Dragon Monarch, Lumera, who shows her kindness despite being her enemy, she finds that maybe there is a place for a Fell Dragon like herself to be a hero who can save the world from destruction.

Summary
Lumera was starting to loose hope. Not that it was any fault of her own, nor was it the fault of either of her daughters. Alear's hesitance was one born of bad experiences. She was fine around other dragons, but that made sense. She was the last of the Fell, not to mention the end to their King. Other dragons, they respected her. Not just for what she'd done but for the kind of person she'd decided to be. Humans didn't see things that way though.
1000 years ago, Alear killed Sombron with her own two hands. Not even an hour later, a group of humans tried to kill her, to put an End to the Fell bloodline.
Who was Lumera to fault Alear for being scared of humans after that? After many attempts to reintroduce the two, she was running out of hope. She was hedging all of her bets on this one last shot.
Or, Alear killed Sombron, but that didn't stop people from hating Fell. 1000 years later, Lumera is still trying to convince her eldest not to be quite as antisocial. She's giving this one last shot, before she finally allows Alear to seclude herself to just the presence of other dragons. The difference between this event and all the prior ones? Elusia finally agreed to attend. Which means, so too did Ivy.

Summary
The Life of Alear after he left his father's service takes some adjusting, too. He doesn't know how to act amongst humans or even around Lumera, but he will do his best. After all, it's the least a Fell Dragon like him should do because this is better than he deserves.
