Summary
In 1916 the Germans, who had been experimenting with biological weapons, released a pathogen that forever altered the world. The Germans had intended a localized effect and had planned to use the ensuing chaos to stage an attack. However the pathogen soon spread, infecting both sides and spreading with a virulence no one had anticipated. It changed the course of millions of lives. It changed the course of Thomas Barrow and Matthew Crawley's lives.
