Back in a time before the Ancients, life as a nation was incredibly lonely. Fewer humans inhabited Mother Earth and with greater distances to travel between Kingdoms or Countries it was rare that Nations could come together on peaceful terms. Of course there were always humans to befriend but unlike a Nation, humans lived and died quickly, it left loneliness and yearning in their immortal souls.
To combat this the Nations of the time came up with a solution to keep each other company hundreds or even thousands of miles away. They kept Diaries, writing down their experiences and feelings of day-to-day life, then they'd trade off whenever any of them would next meet.
This tradition was carried out for thousands of years until the true purpose of the Diaries was lost to time and now the modern-day Nations merely write in them for themselves.
Follow this story as the Ancients finally have enough of their descendants forgetting that they are human by design and need the companionship they will only ever find in each other.

I read somewhere once that the divorce rate is 40% or something like that. I think it’s Bull with a capital B. I definitely know at least twenty kids at my school, and none of their parents are divorced. Unlucky me. I also read that only 6% of divorced couples marry again. I’m not going to hinge my entire life on hoping for that 6%, so I’ve decided to spend most of my time with George instead of Mom or Dad.
George is the best dog anyone could ask for. Since Dad isn’t here and neither is Mom, he chills with me in my bedroom. When Dad comes back, I put on my headphones and pretend to be listening to music so I don’t need to go downstairs to dinner. That’s what I’ve decided I’m going to be doing for the rest of my life now.

After the second American Civil War, the world changes drastically. A new nation stood where the United States once was, the Last Empire having fallen to its own people.
Addicted to more chemicals than a lab rat, Alfred has a hard time keeping his head up- quite literally. It's not that he doesn't want to quit-believe me, he does!- it's just the withdrawal is destroying him from the inside out. What makes it worse, is when he's placed into an arranged marriage as a landgrab, and told about it just before it happened. Now he is wrestling with his addiction, and someone he was supposed to marry in 1860!
Ivan was an addict, once. He understood the pain of withdrawal. He wants to help, since there was nobody around to help him. The idea of joining the Union was one he hadn't even though of before his boss had arranged the marriage with the dictatrix. Now, he was thrown into a world he didn't know, forced to interact with people he had never met, nd be one of the first nations, the third most powerful, to join a mega-nation.

After the American Revolution, the Americas are broken into multiple kingdoms with a central committee, the only thing that the now-dead people who decided this could agree on. Impoverished and crime-ridden, the American Kingdoms functionality is limited, with the nobility on glass above the impoverished, careful to never look down. Born into poverty, Alfred struggles on most days to find food. Despite that, he prides himself on being the exact opposite of the nobility, until one day when he catches a nobles eyes. It could only get worse from there.
