“That everything you touch turns gold,” The knight spoke with unexpected wonder in his voice, reminiscent of a child talking about fairies. Did he, too, believe that Atsushi was a magical creature?
“Not everything,” he replied, unable to hide his apprehension. Akutagawa's expression turned cold again. What in Heaven was his problem?
After being captured by the King, Atsushi is confined to a remote castle, where he remains guarded by the King's hellhound—Knight Akutagawa Ryūnosuke.

One time, Yosano was asking about all kinds of women's parts and reproduction. She did not receive any of her questions answered by her mentor. Instead, she just laid down next to Mori, to comfort her.
Atsushi knows she is the only child of Mori Ougai, and she knows Mori cherishes her so much that she feels safe with her biological mother.

There was a little boy who could not see faces of other people, and that little boy had been five years old when he locked himself in his room, swallowing down his fear and letting himself wallow in the comfort of a place that did not exist in reality. That child’s name was Atsushi Nakajima, and they possessed an ability that was better left unknown. It would have been easier if no knew about it, at least.
Although life did not play out in that manner, that was fine.
Atsushi breathed in the scent of sugary delectables and felt the soft fabric of nice clothes against his skin, not hearing the sound of his mother’s guilty sobs, or his own beating heart. He looked around a room that bent to his will, and decided that here was equal parts safe as it was utterly lonely.
(or: his ability let him trapeze through a million new worlds made by his hands, his mind. he invited others to stay, learned what it was like to leave.)
