When Atsumu is a child, the family lose Osamu in mysterious circumstances, and it is impossible for Atsumu to recover from the loss of his twin. However, as he starts spending time wandering alone as a teen, he runs into Osamu again, but Osamu tells him he can't let anyone know about their secret meetings.
“Who are ya?” he shouted.
“Relax,” a male voice stated. “Stay there, and I will come to you.”
Atsumu remained on guard as the stranger hopped down onto the ground, still obscured in shadow. But then, as he walked slowly toward Atsumu, almost regally, the moonlight lit up his face, and Atsumu was faced with something so unexpected, and so very confusing…someone created in his own mirror image.
“What is this? A trick?” he barked. “So there really are jinn in these ruins!”
“There are jinn,” the teen said, “But Tsumu, don’t ya recognize me?”

The twins move in together above Onigiri Miya when Atsumu finishes his Pro Volleyball career and, shortly after, get to know each other all over again as Atsumu tags along overseas on one of Osamu's exotic business trips. Atsumu discovers possessiveness, jealousy, and attraction during that time.
He peeked into Osamu’s bedroom and looked under the bed to see if Osamu still stashed porn under it like he did in high school. Atsumu felt very self-conscious as Osamu stared at him intently, waiting for an answer.
“Well, I have dated a few women…” he said, then cowered slightly under Osamu’s strange, piercing glare. “I’ve only taken them for strolls in the park, or visited them at their homes with their families present, of course,” he said, which was a lie, but it felt like self-preservation to tell Osamu that.

When Osamu goes out with Atsumu and his boyfriend Kita, the inebriated ex-captain can't tell which twin he's with. After a few drinks and pills, things get interesting.
Osamu suddenly heard a shout, loud enough to be heard even with the backdrop of the pumping bass music. He looked up with a start to see Atsumu staring at them with his mouth hanging open.
“Kita-san!” Atsumu said, again, dropping their drinks as he watched them. One can landed on the table and spilled directly all over Kita and Osamu’s laps.
They snapped out of their daze briefly as they jumped up to wipe the cold beer off their clothes.
“Atsumu?!” Kita cried out. “Are you OSAMU?!” he said as he stared from one to the other.
“Yes, he IS!” Atsumu asserted. “How could ya, Kita-san? My own brother!”
