Summary
“What’s your name?” I asked anyway, though I already knew.
He hesitated, then said it. His voice echoed in the empty hall, like a whisper in a church.
“Lochlan…” He paused, almost skipping the rest. Then, quieter: “…Ratliff.”“No way.” The words slipped out before I could stop it. “My last name’s Ratliff too.”

Summary
I am always running along that strip of film, as the lone spectator in a movie that never stops. Saxon is always there on the screen; no matter how the plot shifts, he remains. And my task, every day, is to look straight at him and finally say the words: I love you.
And I can only leave this loop when he says something back.

Summary
Lochlan thought he’d gotten out.
California meant freedom: no family, no questions, no memories clawing at the back of his throat. He was fine. He had been fine.Until a phone call pulled him right back into the house he thought he’d left behind—their perfect father, their smiling mother, and Saxon, his older brother. The one who always got everything. The one who taught him everything. The one who, once, crossed a line with him on a night they never talked about again.
They were brothers.
But that’s never been the whole story.(What if Lochlan was the middle child—the one everyone forgets, the one no one watches too closely. And the only person he ever learned to follow was Saxon.)

Summary
The mix of realization and need and disgust must have shown on his face, because Lochlan took another step forward.
“You like getting what you want, right Sax?” Lochlan was inches away from his brother, looking right up into his eyes. “I like it, too.”
Saxon didn’t notice when he’d started breathing so heavily. He glanced at Lochlan's lips, then back up. No denying it now.

Summary
Saxon tries to avoid Lochlan's advances. He has his whole life. So when Lochy suggest they go out and get chicks together that's a step in the right direction. Right?
Saxon leans in a bit closer to scold Lochlan.
"You made me feel like a real sick piece of shit you know?"
Lochlan bites his lip, looking guilty. Trying to look guilty.
"Always slipping into my bed at night, always playing with my hair like I'm a fucking girl." Saxon sneers.
He gets worked up thinking about it. Angry.
"Always pushing my limits"

Summary
While he's away at college, Saxon finds out from Piper, Lochy almost drown on their mother's watch, and all hell breaks loose at the Ratliff house.
~~
Saxon bursts through it, the door slamming against the wall behind it as he roughly throws it open.
“Where is he?” Saxon barks, his chest heaving as he quickly scans the foyer for any sign of Lochy.
His dad comes running into the room, looking out of breath and putting his hands up defensively.
“Where's my baby?” Saxon asks him, his eyes wide and dark, pointing an accusatory finger in his father's direction.
Timothy huffs. “Saxon, don't call your brother your baby. That's weird.”
Saxon scoffs. “I raised him.” He points his finger again, feeling frustration tighten in his chest at the way his father rolls his eyes.

Summary
Lochy sends Saxon a Mother's Day card while Saxon's away at college.
~~
“I’m just curious, Loch..” Saxon squeezes his hand tight around the back of his own neck. “Why mom?” He gives a light chuckle. “Why not dad?”
Lochy gives a thoughtful, little hum. “Because dads take care of you *different* than a mom does.” Saxon hears the shrug again. “You take care of me like a mom.”
Saxon's eyes fall shut at the sound of it. It's almost devastating to hear. Makes him feel warm and fuzzy, but also sad.

Summary
It's dumb. And Lochlan knows it.
When Saxon said "hot teacher?" porn, he obviously meant, like, Hot Jock Fucks Teacher. Not Slutty Schoolboy Sucks Cock.
What does he really expect - Saxon's seen him in his uniform a million times, he went to the same fucking private school. It's hard to say if this tease will even get a rise out of him.
But.... Saxon hasn't really looked at him, hasn't really talked to him in months. Lochlan's so so tired of all the ambient tension, of drowning in the endless unease. Shocking him, pissing him off - something, anything - can only be better than how it is now.
