Summary
Enhancing one's spritual tool is an important part of familiarizing oneself with it, along with wielding it of course. Xichen has yet to play his first song on the xiao though. He still doesn't have a name for it and playing it before he's showed it his respect by picking a name feels impolite.
This is the first time his brother has shown the slightest interest in the embellishment of a spiritual tool and Xichen is determined to lure him closer. Right now A-Zhan is lingering in the doorway of the Hanshi, sword clutched in both hands, his gaze heavy on Xichen and his little work station containing a collection of paints, a few brushes, paper, a cloth and the carving needle he's currently applying to the xiao, carving the last bit of a wide arch along the instrument.
