Carol sighs, “Can I ask you something?”
Maria pulls her eyes away from the TV, the dazed look from before disintegrating the longer she looks at Carol. She doesn’t answer immediately but continues to stare, eyes going all over Carol’s face like she’s realizing she’s here all over again. Maria blinks and inhales, “Yeah, of course.”
