Caitlyn’s heaving gradually slowed, her breaths coming in heavy, uneven bursts. She finally looked up, her expression somewhere between exhausted and exasperated. A smear of vomit clung to the corner of her mouth.
“This is your fault,” she muttered, glaring at Vi with just enough venom to make her point.
Vi stifled a laugh, grabbing a washcloth from the sink. She gently wiped Caitlyn’s face, her lips curling into a playful smirk. “Last time I checked, you were a very willing participant,” she teased, rolling her eyes affectionately.

While expecting their second child, Caitlyn and Vi throw a birthday party to celebrate their daughter Lavender’s fourth birthday. A few weeks later, they discover the gender of their baby—news that Lavender struggles to accept. She had her heart set on having a sister, after all.

“Then what is it, Cupcake?” Vi asked softly, concern replacing her teasing tone as she fully sat up.
Caitlyn’s frown deepened, her voice tinged with frustration.
“I really want Ionian spicy noodles and… peanut butter.”

Caitlyn wakes Vi in the middle of the night to satisfy her latest bizarre pregnancy craving.
