He pulled himself out of his own thoughts, trying to instead focus on the crunch of dirt and ice under his feet, the sound of Apple’s breaths, steaming in the cold, the sound of the other’s song. He had endured worse pain over the years, as had Wei Wuxian.
It was nothing. It deserved no thought. It would pass.
Lan Zhan has chronic knee and back pain from all the years of discipline and punishment received. He had been able to keep it under control, but now that he and Wei Wuxian were traveling together over the winter, the cold was wearing him down. Wei Wuxian notices something is wrong, and tries to help. Of course, it would be a lot easier to help his husband if he actually told him what was going on.
