Summary
AU where instead of Ethiopia, Robin!Jason traces his birth mother to an aid organization just outside of Gotham, following her to a warehouse where he confronts her after listening in to a phone-call between her and the Joker, who is blackmailing her to embezzle funds; she betrays him and, after getting beaten by the Joker, Jason is abandoned by them both to suffer a long, slow death—only to be saved by a strange child with a suspicious knowledge of their patrol routes and what gear they carry at any given time, who may have followed him there to provide 'backup'? How strange.
