Summary
AU, where Shuichi and his friends would have been a part of Class 79 of Hope's Peak. He is slated to be the Ultimate Detective of Class 79, but when the Tragedy occurs, that forces him and a few of his friends to move to Towa City to survive. They are safe for a while, but then the Warriors of Hope strike. Forcing him to survive.
Thanks to his wits and with help from Kaito Momota and Kaede Akamatsu, he survives. However, while out on a supply run, he runs into the unconscious Nagisa Shingetsu by pure chance, but the boy is injured. He knows he won’t survive without help. Against his better judgment, he decides to help nurse the boy back to health as well as find his other friends. After all, he can't just leave someone who needs help behind. Even if the world thinks he should.

New Pines wasn't a bad place to live, all things considered.

Or, due to his uncle getting a better job, Shuichi Saihara finds himself moving to an entirely new town for his senior year of high school. Luckily, some of the worries are alleviated when a friend group decides to adopt him. Shuichi is now thrown into a whole new world of friendship, love, and everything else in between, and he's in for a wild ride, to say the least.

The hospital bed’s mattress is thin and he can feel the springs grinding against his back, trying to erode him away.
It’s a short boy who opens the door, smiling warmly and dressed in a set of black scrubs with a white coat thrown over top. The jacket is too big for him, undone at the front with the sleeves rolled up - one less rolled than the other, he notices - and it hangs down nearly to his knees. His smile is deceiving, too sharp at the edges like he’s hiding razorblades in his cheeks. On his feet he’s got a pair of purple rubber-soled shoes and his hair is tied back in a small ponytail where his neck meets his head, bright purple strands curling up at the ends like they’re reaching for the sky or about to be struck down by lightning.
He knows the man and it could be both.
