Summary
It is the year 882 ad. Several eastern Slavic tribes were under pressure, and attack. The Byzantines lay to the south, and the Varangians (Vikings) were to the immediate north. Germanic tribes banding together powers of their own in the west outflanked the region. It was time to unionize into something more, something larger, out of pure need for survival...
In this story, young Russia has a woodlands adventure while preparing for the founding party of Kievan Rus.

Summary
What if events at the end of Oceľové žezlo transpired a bit differently? On the first glance all looks the same – Volch loses his fight and Ilja reaches the top of Zilantaw too late to do anything else but mortally wound the dragon on which Tugarin escapes. But with the little twist of Tugarin already wanting an assistant (before hearing about mankurts – zombielike thralls) and Volch keeping some leverage and choosing what looks like lesser evil and an opportunity. Books for a page or so threaten us with scenario of brainwashed servitude and I’d try that with a tiny little bit less brainwash. Basically an attempt to have Volch walk through events of the trilogy without becoming Koščej, but still exploring damage and traps of seeking power and dealing with Tugarin.
EDIT - This project has clear completed scenario, it only needs to be written down with all the details. When that will happen, I know not. First five chapters are completed. The rest is raw material - fleshed out scenes and explanations in between.

To si takhle čtu o Seveřanech a jejich kultuře a naďabím na jednu specifickou magickou disciplínu podrobně popsanou u Viking Answer Lady a oči mám čím dal víc jak talíře, protože hodně z toho zní po čertech podobně jako schopnosti, kterými vybavil Juraj Červenák Volcha v sérii Bohatýr a vytváří to zajímavý možný/přípustný kontext pro dění v knihách. A tak vznikla tahle prequelová epizodka.
Aneb kterak Sveneld vyrýval, Volch si musel vydobýt respekt a Svjatoslava přepadla zvědavost.
