Summary
The sting of tears in her eyes was nothing compared to the harsh, fiery ache that seared through her skin. She had never felt pain like this before. Clutching her arms to her chest, sobbing, she dropped to her knees in front of the river. When she slowly lowered her hands into the water, the relief was instant. The last few tears slid down her face as she gasped at the shocking coolness. Exhaling slowly, she blinked her eyes open and gazed down at her hands. To her surprise, the water around them started to glow, a soft light that would have startled her if it wasn’t for the calming sensation she felt. She slowly lifted her hands from the water, and the pain dripped away along with the droplets. Burn scars remained, but she barely noticed them, her mind still struggling to comprehend that she had just healed herself. She was still processing how she had gotten injured. Aang… Aang!

Summary
Zuko has always seen his scar as a mark of shame, a reminder of his failure to show strength in the face of adversity. Katara has seen the Fire Nation's atrocities first hand; she knows the destruction fire can bring. But when she is burned by the hands of a friend, her scars serve to remind her that things are not always as they seem. That even those closest to us can use their power for the wrong reasons, and perhaps our greatest enemies can prove to be more than their nation’s atrocities- even a friend, maybe more...
