Summary
When Yu Narukami was told he had to spend the next year living in a small town out in the country, he had no idea what kind of things there would change his life. Including finding new friends, falling in love with a celebrity, and finding out he has odd magical powers tied to a fate that just happens to involve stopping a murderer.
Warning: The source material for this story contains some subject matters I am not accustomed to writing. Many of these things are unavoidable, as they are necessary for story context. There is a more complete warning inside, should you need it. Heavy swearing is involved and some mature themes, but no smut will be added.

“‘A shadow is suppressed power. And when controlled by one’s ego, it becomes a persona.’” Naoto quoted themself, navy eyes casted downward as they seemed to be in deep thought. “You all recall me saying this in the past, correct?”
Everyone just nodded their heads as confirmation.
“I believe a persona is the power of the heart. Depending on your heart’s true nature, it changes form.” The detective supplied. “And with Yosuke-senpai’s and Yu-senpai’s personas gone, one could only suspect that something inside of their hearts may have changed. Hence the disappearance of their abilities just now.”
“What?” Yosuke felt agitation growing within his chest once more. “Are you saying that Yu and I are not being true to ourselves right now and that’s why our personas are gone?”
“That’s most likely the case.” Naoto simply nodded, a troubled frown now casting their face. “But we really don’t have any means of proving it as of now, so this remains as a speculation.”
The brunette scowled as he turned his head away, murmuring a hushed curse under his breath. He slammed a hand against the wooden table and shouted, “Dammit!”

As Yosuke leaned closer to the TV, he couldn’t help but notice that the far-away figure looked... almost familiar. In fact, they... they looked almost like Saki. The long hair checked out, along with the outfit, roughly... But why was she in pain?
“...Saki-san?” Yosuke reached his hand out to touch the screen. No, seriously... She looked like she was in a lot of pain... Was she okay? Maybe he should call her? Actually, no, that might be pushing a line, but...
Wait, she was his soulmate, according to the myth? What the hell was that about?
Just as Yosuke took his hand off the screen with full intent to grab his phone, something... something grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him back. Like, he wasn’t hallucinating at all, and he was almost certain that he hadn’t fallen asleep either. No, something really grabbed him and started to pull him back.
What was worse? He was being pulled into the TV.
