Lancer chuckles wryly. “You know…I’m a little jealous of Lady Rin. She can take her time to become an adult, she has you and her mother to teach her what she needs to learn…”
Lord Tokiomi sighs deeply. “If only it were so simple. Mages are taught young—a fresh mind isn’t as deeply entrenched in older thoughts; it can adapt and change with the times. Not that there’s much change to be had in the Mage community.” His laughter is brittle and forced. “One day, Rin will have to learn how to push aside her humanity for her own goals. And I’m unsure if I want to be there when that happens.”
Lancer raises his eyebrows. “How unfortunate that I promised to keep you alive, then.”
In which Tokiomi receives a valiant vassal, and Lancer finds himself torn between his duty as a knight and his duty to his Lord's family as a whole.

Her creator only calls on her when he's forced to, limiting her usefulness and engaging with her, for the most part, only when he uses the Iron Man suit. She's learned to accept that, even if she doesn't like it. The arrival of Captain Rogers and his team has the potential to change that, if she's willing to let go of the expectations of Tony Stark.

Summary
Tiny Adorable Steve is back in his life, and Tony has never needed someone more. Betrayed and heart broken after the 'Civil War' that tore the Avengers apart, he isn't quite sure how to move forward when it comes to saving the world. He doesn't know how to forgive Rogers or how to fight the alien threat to Earth if he doesn't.
Steve mostly wants to kick Rogers' ass and then bundle Tony away where he'll be safe forever. Their kids can come too, and they could be happy... but his lover could never leave when his world is in danger. He couldn't do it either - they're both heroes, after all.
Defeating Thanos may be a top priority, but they have very different ideas on how to do it. The only thing they agree on is that they're not going to be separated by anything ever again.
