Meanwhile, Retsuko, feeling confined by marriage, has also begun indulging in her own affairs, even before Haida’s encounters started. As their separate pursuits spiral further, they each face a new truth about themselves, rethinking their commitment.
This is a story of missed connections, complex desires, and the line between friendship and something darker as Haida and Retsuko both explore what it means to truly escape.

Yes, if you were to ask Retsuko to introduce herself to you, her first instinct would be to lie. But if you somehow engineered the technology to get inside her brain and pry out her real thoughts, you’d go to prison, because that is creepy. But before you condemned yourself to a monotonous life of iron bars and hooch wine, you might hear Retsuko describe herself a bit like this:
Hi, my name is Retsuko, and I work in Chararyman’s Accounting division. I’m overworked, passionless and I haven’t had a real hobby or friend since High School, and I think I’ll probably just keep up that way until I die. In my free time, I scream about how mad I am in random karaoke bars. I don’t really know what I’m doing.
This is because, in Retsuko’s eyes, a good personal introduction is one that sounds as if it were ripped straight from your high school’s foreign languages textbook. A good personal introduction is not an admission of your personal failings. A good personal introduction can never be the truth.

Summary
Haida finally gets a date with Retsuko with some scheming help from Fenneko, but it didn't feel like he thought it would. Haida couldn't figure out why it felt like he was just hanging out with any other friend of his. He pined for Retsuko for this long.
Elsewhere, Ookami was getting tired of his dating life. He was holding out hope that his current fling with Manumaru would grow to something more despite Ookami's heart being set on someone else.
Both of these boys are not happy with how things are currently working out in their respective love lives. They have a lot in common, more than Haida could realize. Perhaps they just need to have a moment together for that so spark to start a fire.
