He hadn't realized it himself yet, but he had shoved Kaveh against the wall around one side of the tavern, pressed too close to be merely friendly.
Kaveh shut his eyes as if trying to calm himself. His scent, that floral scent Alhaitham could never forget, flooded his nose at the close proximity. “You can’t expect me to come back to be each other’s verbal punching bags; I won’t do that…”

Kaveh flushed as he looked away, laughing nervously. “I’m not running. I’m just… processing. Everything’s too raw.”
Wordlessly, Alhaitham shifted closer. He made no moves against him as the other reached until his arm was the only thing leaving space as he leaned over him. His free hand trailed up Kaveh’s body. His thighs, chest, neck, finally cradling his cheek, as if making sure he was real.
“Somehow, I feel like I’m still in a dream,” Kaveh whispered, heat rising as Alhaitham’s thumb brushed his bottom lip, toying with it.
“Would you like to make sure that it isn't?”

Kaveh shifts in his seat, and he raises his chin as if to look at Al-Haitham from another angle. This seems unnecessary. Then again, Kaveh seems to involve himself in many unnecessary things.
“Well then, who did you piss off today, to the point of limping all the way back home?”
The answer is, many people. Al-Haitham doesn’t really care about this, but he might care a little more if the person getting aggravated is Kaveh. The reactions that Al-Haitham can get out of his roommate have always been a little too entertaining.
Kaveh looks unconvinced, “And how was something like this not preventable by someone like you?”
“... I was reading on the walk home.”
Kaveh’s eyes narrow, and the amusement that slips across his face is not lost on Al-Haitham. The small smile on his face is a bit threatening, in a way that Al-Haitham can’t quite explain.
“I see. So the feeble scholar finally lives up to his self-proclaimed title.”
Al-Haitham deals with an injury, and Kaveh deals with Al-Haitham.
