Summary
Midnight crawls amongst the cracks of a chandelier hung up high, glowing only for a short while until its light fades in comparison to the sun and its starry flash. Evening bells from the Favonius Cathedral ring, signaling for curfew but as children in pairs, families with smiles and couples in love walk home, Barbara sits underneath the diminishing light of the chandelier, harboring a grave guilt below the Anemo Archon’s wretched gaze that demands a straight path she cannot follow.
Hands clasped together beg to be put back on a path she worries has fallen off her map, a guide to avoid the eternal flame catalyzed by sin, away from the downward spiral she knows she still deserves to walk.
Until another joins her at the Church, and as the memories of a time she didn’t feel this way are drawn out, Barbara learns to accept and live with the aid of another sharing the same burden of loneliness.
And for once, the path leads to home, illuminated by the hanging moon above.
